The Doctoral School of Rovira i Virgili University
The Doctoral School (ED) forms part of Rovira i Virgili University and, in conjunction with the RDI agents of the Campus of International Excellence Southern Catalonia and other public or private, national, regional or international bodies, institutions and entities with which the URV has signed agreements, is fundamentally responsible for organising the URV's doctoral programmes.
The new structure and organisation of the Doctoral School, in accordance with Royal Decree 99/2011, regulating official doctoral programmes, is outlined in the Internal regulations of the Doctoral School.
La URV structures its doctoral studies around its doctoral programmes:
-
Every doctoral programme is structured in various research lines that define the programme's research objectives.
-
Students begin their doctoral studies under the supervision of one or more thesis supervisors. These supervisors are specialists in one of the research lines of the doctoral programme.
-
Within each doctoral programme there is an academic committee which is responsible for defining, updating and coordinating the programme and its quality. It is also responsible for the quality of the programme and the progress of the doctoral students' research and learning.
-
Finally, all doctoral activities are supervised by the Management Committee of the Doctoral School (ED), which is the body entrusted with defining the strategic guidelines for the doctoral programmes, in accordance with the URV's research policy.
