FAQ about doctoral degrees at URV

What is the difference between international distinction and international cotutelle?

These two distinctions are possible in the doctoral certificate and certify that the thesis has been done with international collaboration.

In the case of the international distinction, URV doctoral students must spend a minimum of 3 months in a foreign research center or university, write the thesis in an international language and one of the members of the defense committee must come from a foreign institution, among other requirements.

In the case of international cotutelle (joint doctorate), URV doctoral students must also be enrolled in another foreign institution doing the doctorate, with a minimum stay of 6 months in each of the institutions, a joint doctorate agreement must regulate the doctorate, must have thesis supervisors in both institutions and will finally receive the certificate from both institutions with a single defence.
