- The doctoral thesis
The doctoral thesis may be written and, if necessary, defended in the languages habitually used for scientific communication in the field of knowledge of the thesis.
In all cases, the thesis must include an abstract in Catalan.
The completed thesis must be approved by the thesis supervisor/s, and this is formally done by attaching an original signed certificate to the thesis. This is proof that the doctoral candidate has carried out the research work with the corresponding supervision and the tuition.
In addition, the thesis must be presented with a front cover that clearly shows: the name of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (in letters) and the URV logo, the full name of the doctoral candidate, the title, the words "DOCTORAL THESIS" (In the corresponding language) and the year.

The URV Doctoral Thesis Style Guide is a series of guidelines regarding the basic style requirements that all theses bearing the URV's logo must follow. Download here .
In accordance with the provisions of this guide, the graphic style of the cover and the back cover of the thesis is shown in the following example:

If the thesis was completed on a joint doctoral programme between two or more universities or in a joint tuition programme between the URV and a foreign university, the cover and the back cover must also show the logos of the other universities.
The back cover may contain the logos of any collaborating organisations that have contributed material and/or financial resources, if appropriate.
The thesis must also include a page stating the name of the supervisor/s and signed by the supervisor/s.
