The training activities of the doctoral program are aimed at acquiring research skills through an original research project in order to develop a successful professional career, whether in academia, business or administration. For this reason, the following training activities are defined:
-
Dissemination and publication of research results: publication or acceptance of at least one scientific article in an indexed publication in its field of knowledge, presentation of research results in other publications, conferences, etc.
-
R + D + I management: Attendance at courses on management and planning of research projects, analysis of scientific literature, scientific ethics, technical language, etc. included in the transversal training plan for doctoral students at the URV. This training has to be done preferably in the first two years.
-
Multidisciplinary seminars: complementary theoretical and scientific training in the form of seminars given by experts. The seminar program organized by the Catalan Institute of Archeology can be seen on the web www.icac.cat.
-
- Mandatory: Tutoring sessions with thesis directors
- Cross-disciplinary training activities
The URV offers a range of cross-disciplinary training activities that doctoral students can choose to complement their scientific training.
These activities are common to all doctoral programmes. They broaden the knowledge of students, fostering generic skills and interdisciplinary relations between them.
See the cross-disciplinary training activities for the current academic year
- Mobility and scientific exchange activities
The doctoral programme can be taken entirely at the URV, or it can be taken through distance learning if so agreed with the thesis supervisor. However, mobility is an added value to the doctoral training so it is usually recommended that students undertake a research stay abroad. The options include the following:
1. The Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology.
2. Co-tutoring and co-supervision of doctoral theses with the University of Rome. La Sapienza, the Università di Padova, the Universidade do Minho, the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis, the Université Bordeaux 3 or the University of Sheffield.
