The Doctoral Programme in Social Work aims to promote the training of researchers and professionals so they can undertake in-depth study into the programme's research lines and engage in specific debates in the field of social work.

For these reasons, the Interuniversity Doctoral Programme in Social Work, which is combines the resources of the University of Murcia, Navarra Public University and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, offers a specific doctoral programme to promote teaching, research and knowledge generation in areas that are relevant to social work.

The general objective of the doctoral programme is to offer the student the opportunity to specialise in the field of social work so they can conduct advanced and quality investigations in the following research lines:

Social work and social services

This research line studies the current debates on the foundations, evolution and methodologies applied in social work and social services. Some of the topics studied are:

Social services, the third sector, the digitalisation of social services, the study of the family, group and community social work. It includes the areas of ageing and long-term dependents, health and mental health and functional diversity, health organisation, gender and social work and gender violence models and intervention, social practice, systematisation, reflexivity, supervision and the needs of professionals.

Research and intervention advances from social work in complex contexts: vulnerability, migrations and total development

Research on the theoretical and practical perspectives, in particular the conceptualisation, development and application, of the relationship between social work and migratory movements. Some of the topics studied in this line are: social work and migration, mobility, interculturalism, resources and services, research on poverty, social exclusion and marginalisation, research on intercultural education, educational contexts.
